The ‘Aina Village is a multiple acre in-fill Live-Work campus designed to rejuvenate the North Shore, Koolauloa, Mililani Tech Park/Wahiawa, Central Oahu, Waianae and certain portions of Urban Honolulu.
3RockD is committed to developing the ‘Aina Village as a way to support sustainable community enterprises, programs, and activities that are consistent with local vision and values. Preserving Hawaii’s resources, environment and culture is an important aspect of the the ‘Aina Village.
The ‘Aina Village features single family homes, two and three bedroom apartments and condominiums situated next to a sustainable Earth-Park that will features Hawaii’s various ecosystems, plants, and indigenous birds and insects.
Power-Light photovoltaic system will provide operating power and will supply the majority of the ‘Aina Village water pumping power requirements. It is estimated that over the 25-year lifetime of the environmentally friendly system, emissions of carbon dioxide could be reduced by almost 12,000 tons.
The ‘Aina Village features the use of drought resistant plants such as Salam Seashore Paspalum grass which requires considerably less fertilizer, contributing to the development’s environmentally friendly goal. The use of bamboo is employed in the construction of many of the structures. Unlike normal trees that take 50-6o years to reach full maturity, bamboo can be harvested after 7 years, and then quickly re-grown to create more timber. Bamboo also creates oxygen and replenishes our air supply faster than trees. Additionally bamboo is strong and made of long roots, which serve as a natural water barrier for water run-off and protects the ocean.
‘Aina Village is planned to be a true tropical urban resort community. The luxury resort experience in an sustainable urban setting will be fostered by 30-foot wide palm-lined roads, water features and lush landscaping throughout.
‘Aina Village housing unites consists of 60 total two-story attached homes, apartment units and condiminiums, in varying configurations. All 60 units will have an attached two-car garage or gated parking. Planned exterior features consist of ecofriendly tile roofing, eco-tech exteriors with natural stone detailing where applicable, lush low water usage landscaped yards, and stamped concrete or flagstone driveways. All housing units have natural and terra powered cooling throughout and will include such amenities as slab granite countertops, Aristocratic cabinetry, and Subzero/Wolf built-in appliances.
